POPULAR DESTINATIONS NEAR PUCON
• VOLCAN VILLARRICA, known as Volcan Rucapillan (House of Snow) is the most consistently active volcano on the planet.
• Pucón’s Trancura, Palguin, Liucura rivers and Lago Villarrica.
• TRANCURA DELTA is a great half-dayer. Turn right at the lake along the curving beach to the mouth of the Rio Trancura.
• QUELHUE BEACH. You get to this splendid, deserted beach by walking, biking or taxi across the pasarela (hanging bridge) just before the airport. A good half day escape from civilization.
• PARQUE HUERQUEHUE. Take bus to P.N. Huerquehue. It's a slow ride thru this great lake-studded Araucaria forest park.
• TERMAS LIUCURA. Huge swimming pool by the Rio Liucura. Food. Few people. Take bus for Lago Caburga. Get out just after bridge over the Liucura (just after the fork to Huife), and walk up the dirt road two kilometers.

• VOLCANO´S OLD ENTRANCE at “El Cerduo” across from end of airport runway takes you for a long day trip into wonderful raw lava creeks, rock walls, forests, colors, lowdown snow, falling water. Good mountain bike stuff, or arrange for horses.
WINTER IN PUCON
• The Villarrica Volcano Ski Center has become one of the favorite destinations of snowboarders, thanks to the lava trails that form an excellent and entertaining combination of jumps, cornices, out-of-piste options, and "halfpipes". Never too crowded, it is also a great choice for skiers. Its spectacular view compensates for the funky, antique ski lifts. In winter, you can also climb to the crater on randonnée skis and/or do the descent on snowboard.
