VILLARICA VOLCANO
A top attraction for the adventurous in Pucón is to climb the Villarrica Volcano (whose occasional pyrotechnical displays can be enjoyed evenings from ¡école!'s viewing deck). Climbers must be relatively fit and healthy for the ascent, but experience with specialized equipment not required. Once you reach the summit, if conditions permit, you can gaze down into the boiling cauldron of the enormous crater. The 360-degree panorama of the Lake District -surrounded by snow capped volcanoes, ribboned with rivers, and blanketed in forests- makes this excursion well worth the all-day climb. When volcanic activity makes the Villarrica climb too dangerous, we recommend an alternative: the Quetrupillan Volcano. The Quetrupillan is not active, but it does offer an awe-inspiring view.
WHITEWATER ADVENTURES
¡école! is a favorite meeting place for many kayakers planning, setting out, or celebrating the conclusion of their runs. We can put you in contact with the best agencies and guides for rafting (class III and IV) in the Trancura, the Bio-Bio and the Futaleufú Rivers. MOUNTAIN BIKE EXPEDITIONS
We can arrange mountain bike excursions around Pucón, with guides and backup transport to forests, rivers, and lakes. Excursions last from half-days to 2 or 3 days. If you prefer to explore without a guide, ¡école! can help you rent and bike and take a self-guided tour to nearby destinations, like the Ojos del Caburgua or the Menetué and San Luis Hot Springs.
HORSEBACK RIDING
We can arrange trips for half-day, full day and longer excursions with an excellent guide, trainer, and riding instructor. Many destinations are available. We highlight the Filca Trip, located in the Cañi Sanctuary.
HOT SPRINGS
There are many hot springs in the Pucón area. Every evening, Hostería ¡école! organizes trips to relax and enjoy the therapeutic waters by star- and candlelight after a full day of exercise and outdoor sports. You can also take a day trip or overnight excursion to lovely Panqui Hot Springs, where massages are a specialty.
